HPR FUTURE STARS K-1st Grade BASKETBALL REGISTRATION– Deadline closed
Aim is to start practices start 1-2 weeks after due date. Cost $50 per child. (multi kid discount – see below----Games will be played Saturdays usually in the morning, (and Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting at 5:45pm, and 6:30pm). 5 game season, all played in Higginsville. NOTE: Sunday practices are a possibility in all HPR programs. Coaches determine when they will practice. Want to make it fit your schedule PLEASE signup to coach!

We will register this year EARLIER for K-1st Grade Youth Basketball (our "Future Stars" program). Registration will begin August 1st and run thru August 18th. Games will begin in October. K-1st will be coed and play other coed teams from Higginsville and Concordia. $50.00 per player. Future Stars is a relaxed and super fun brand of basketball, no score is kept and there are modified rules for game play that keep the fun going!
RULES/REMINDERS:
NO SCORES WILL BE POSTED ON SCOREBOARD - MAN TO MAN DEFENSE ONLY, NO DOUBLE TEAMS, NO STEALING THE DRIBBLE, NO CROWDING (NOT ALLOWING SPACE TO DRIBBLE). GOAL HEIGHT: 8'6"....BALL SIZE 27.5".

NO BLOCKING SHOTS. ALONG WITH THE NO STEALING RULE THIS RULE ALLOWS FOR MORE SHOTS TO GO UP.
DEFENSIVE POSITION TOO CLOSE (CROWDING THE DRIBBLER)
(GREY AREA HERE BUT PLAYERS NEED TO GIVE THE OPPOSING BALL HANDLER SOME ROOM) IF A PLAYER IS SO CLOSE AS TO NOT ALLOW A DRIBBLE IN FRONT OF THEM THAT IS TOO CLOSE.
"ACTIVE HANDS" (PLAYER THAT WAVES ARMS WILDLY IN FRONT OF DRIBBLER CAUSING A PLAYER TO LOSE HIS DRIBBLE (REF DISCRETION)
DRIBBLING OUT OF BOUNDS WILL GENERALLY GO BACK TO THE OFFENSE, BUT REFS WILL HAVE DISCRETION TO AWARD IT THE DEFENSE IF IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES. (WE WILL ALLOW A LITTLE BIT OF OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY, DUE TO THE AGE).
NO PRESSING, NO HALF COURT PRESS, DEFENSE MUST RETREAT AND ASSEMBLE PAST THE THREE POINT ARC OF THEIR DEFENSIVE END.

This will be a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on fun! Coaches are permitted to be on court with their teams directing them during games. One referee will be provided and coaches will assist reffing and teaching. Ball size is 27 1/2”. Goal heights will be lowered to 8' 6".
