Do NOT be offended please if we have reached our max. and have to turn folks away at the door, we are trying our best to open. Among some of the changes FOR THIS YEAR ONLY: Swimming lessons will not be given due to the close proximity between instructor and student, and no swim parties will be allowed this year. We will not be offering season passes this year. We will offer a 10 visit pass (non-refundable), however full details will be available soon. If you won a season pass through a recent promotional prize give-away, that pass will be honored for 2020, AND 2021.
If you are sick you will need to stay home...we are making the pool available this year, however if anything changes we will take appropriate actions, including closing if need be. We are excited to be able to offer this wonderful activity/service to the community. We will have more info out soon.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Missouri District #1 Little League® Baseball and Softball
2020 Season Program Update Concerning COVID-19
May 12, 2020 - As COVID-19 continues to change the game of everyday life and impact the
way we all play out the days ahead your Missouri District #1 Little League® Charters built on
local youth sports families, sponsors and volunteers have been learning, listening and struggling
with uncertainty toward a normal 2020 baseball and softball season. On a typical year most of
our local teams built from school age youth, family tradition and neighbors united as volunteers
would be playing the game of baseball and softball on our community fields.
Empowered by local voices from annual elections throughout multiple cities and counties five (5)
Charters of District #1 Missouri Little League® International have agreed to the tough decision
of withdrawing from the 2020 regular season: inclusive of practices, traditional game schedules
and tournament play. These charters representing nearly 30 Missouri Counties are commonly
known as: Carroll County, Harrison County, LaCoMo Central, LaCoMo East, and Warrensburg
Y.E.S. Little League.
Unified by the world’s largest organized youth sports program as Little League® Baseball and
Softball these Missouri Charters are committed to resuming the tradition of spring and summer
games in 2021. Safe at home takes on a whole new meaning for each of our players and their
teams of community. Using a measure of best practices and local empowerment we are
encouraged by dialogue of sandlot games, field clinics and player camps that may come soon
by way of continued Little League® communications and improved local health conditions.
Your Local Little League® Charter will continue to field questions, concerns and lend support
toward youth baseball and softball programs as these conditions change.
In volunteer service, Tom Wegener
District Administrator, Missouri District #1
Little League® Baseball and Softball
HPR Additional Notes:
Pee Wee is included above as well for those who signed up for the Pee Wee Baseball and Petite Softball, that season has been canceled. Refunds will be issued to paid registrants soon. HPR will contact about the Pee Wee refunds and Lacomo Central board will issue refunds for Little League.
We intend to offer baseball and softball opportunities later in the summer in the form of camps/clinics or sandlot style games, or scrimmage games. We will try to offer these so that the Little League kids can still get in some ball this summer.
At this time we still plan to offer Tee Ball and Coach Pitch, starting practices sometime after June 15th, with modified team formats (smaller teams) and modified organizational rules and procedures.
The decision is based due us being able to play mainly local (far less travel between other communities involved and the ability to modify rules accordingly).
Coaches will be notified within the next 3 weeks and will begin notifying parents. These games will be played most likely on Saturday mornings in late June and July in cooler temps. Due to the nature of the situation, all programs are subject to change.
Rodeo - Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020. This is still planned for now!
Mutton Bustin' for kids as well.
Chamber Announcement regarding the 4th of July Celebration in the Park:
The Higginsville Chamber of Commerce has proudly coordinated and produced Higginsville’s Family Fun & Fireworks Festivities for many years. We are thankful for the partnerships with Higginsville Lions (set up & detonation of fireworks) and City of Higginsville (in-kind services). On behalf of the Higginsville Chamber of Commerce Board of Director’s, it is with a heavy heart that I share the following information with our community members and partners. Higginsville’s Family Fun & Fireworks Festivities has been postponed due to concerns with social distancing to help stem the spread of COVID -19, along with difficulties in being able to generate donations and sponsors for the fireworks themselves with so many small businesses closed and folks out of work.
However, there will eventually be a celebration – one that will celebrate not only our great nation, but the many heroes who have risen to the challenges of 2020. We will honor doctors, nurses, medical support staff, police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, store clerks, teachers, daycare personnel, city workers, pastors, mail carriers, delivery service providers, retail entities, manufacturing industry, farmers, producers and all who keep our community working. Last, but by no means least, we will celebrate the American spirit of our citizens young and old for the bravery and commitment to keep our country strong. We look forward to this event and we will keep you posted as to when it will take place.
Thank you in advance for understanding why this difficult decision has been made.
Teri Ray, Executive Director
Higginsville Chamber of Commerce
Playground are closed until further notice. We will announce when they are back open.
High school baseball field renovation is almost done, it looks great...thank you Lafayette County C-1 for all your help and support in doing this.
REMINDER - ALLOW 8 FEET ON OUR TRAILS FOR DISTANCE - GIVE OTHER WALKERS/JOGGERS A WIDE BERTH. WASH HANDS AFTER SITTING ON BENCHES/PICNIC TABLES.
AT this time our playgrounds are closed until further notice. We strongly encourage good hand washing after using the park. Trails and paths are still open. At this time basketball courts, skate park, and tennis courts are open. If people are getting to close to each other, or there are more than ten people on a court we will reevaluate the situation.
SPRING SOCCER ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to the Covid-19 situation, we have decided to cancel the youth soccer season for this spring. We have not canceled our Tee-Ball, Coach Pitch, Pee Wee, and Little League seasons, and we plan to be able to play those going forward, with dates being pushed back somewhat. Soccer refunds will be sent out to paid registrants via the mail soon, please allow a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks for those refunds to process. Thank you for your patience as we navigate through waters we have never had to encounter before. We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying each other’s company, as we reconnect with family members and friends at this time.
Paid registrants (soccer): You will be contacted soon on where we can mail your refund - you may also choose between rolling money over into into a park credit, good for pool, future rentals, or future youth sports or adult sports. Credits will not expire until January 1st, 2022. Credits not be available for Rodeo, Lacomo Central LL baseball/softball, Higginsville Youth Football Association, Youth Wrestling and some other programs.
